The TeleToyland LED Tower is a live demo of a new Instructable on how to connect web robots with wifi. The Tower has five WS2812b LEDs that you can set the RGB values for. Any color combination is possible, and the advanced control allows you to set a sequence of colors.

On Display at the Discovery Science Center

A couple of the projects were on display at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, California (http://www.discoverycube.org/) at a special Makers event. We had joystick control of the Marble Maze, a desktop sized version of the Sandbox 2, and coloring pages too. It was great fun for the kids!

Rolling Ball Machine Now Has Lighting Control

The TeleToyland Rolling Ball Machine now allows you to control the lighting. Previously, the project was a bit dark since the field of view conflicted with the Sandbox 2, and lighting the RBM would wash out the Sandbox 2. We've added a light that is controllable now, so it will turn on automatically when you visit the page and turn off automatically when you leave. There are also buttons so you can control the light if you want - because we can! :-) It's an LED bulb, so it should last a long time.

M.A.G.I.C. stands for "Mechanically Automated Game of Intelligent Chess, and is a project by a team of students at the University of Central Florida using the Sandbox 2 design as it's base. The project is a voice-activated chess board that interprets voice commands, runs the commands through a chess engine, and then physically moves the pieces! They have a small website up with a short video of the operation.

We've simplified the coordinate system a bit so you can enter coordinates in the upper right Quadrant I. Some sample command lists are provided to get you started. TeleToyland is Now Non-Java (iPhone and iPad) Compatible

The TeleToyland projects are now compatible with browsers that do not have Java. The site will auto-detect the absence of Java and switch to a JavaScript refresh instead. This will allow smartphones like the iPhone to use the robots. The Sandbox and Skeleton will still require Javscript for the AJAX queue.

TeleToyland Sandbox Now Has a Wipeout Command

By popular demand, we've added a new command to the TeleToyland Sandbox. The Wipeout button will appear after 30 minutes of idle time on the project, and, when clicked, will clear out the sandbox of previous drawings.

The TeleToyland Sandbox provided some inspiration to a team of college students at the University of Michigan. Their project is a mechanical version of the classic video game "Frogger". They constructed it with stepper motors instead of servos to get full rotation and easier calibration for linear movement. Great work, guys - a fun project! We've added a new robot to the Other Web Robots gallery - BP Explorer. The BP Eplorer site lets you drive one of 5 Surveyor SRV-1 robots in a very nice layout. There is a great Flash interface for queueing up to drive the robots.

We've added a new robot to the Other Web Robots gallery - RatSLAM. At The University of QLD, Australia, you can drive the robot in a lab. The robot is semi-autonomous, so you can click on places for the robot to drive to, and the robot will figure out how to drive there without running into obstacles & people. The robot can also recharge its own batteries by looking for its battery charger and plugging itself in.

The TeleToyland Rolling Ball Machine allows you to control the path of marbles as they fall down ramps and slides. There are three ramps you can control, and you can also turn the ball lift on and off.
